NANASI, Rudolf "Rudy" - Peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family at VON-Sakura House Woodstock on Friday April 12th, 2019. Rudy Nanasi of Woodstock and formerly of Kitchener in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Julie C. Nanasi (nee Townshend). Loved father of Daniel (Tiffany Ferguson) Nanasi and Timothy Nanasi. Dear brother of Martin Nanasi, Heidi Powell, Giselle (Howard) Holst, Fred (Julie) Nanasi and Mitzi Nanasi. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Rudolph and Franziska Nanasi. Rudy’s passion, work ethic and brilliance in problem solving fueled his successful career in stamping presses and manufacturing. Never one to back down from a challenge, he also aspired to excellence in his love of golf, cycling and computer building. He will be remembered for his quick wit and dry sense of humour. Many thanks to his doctors at the London Regional Cancer Program, his team of St. Elizabeth home care nurses: Yvonne, Patti, Tammy and Kim, Dr. Jeff Nichols, Dr. Karen Fryer, Freda, Rina, Corrine, Kim and Loretta at the Woodstock Hospital Chemotherapy Unit and the wonderful team of palliative doctors, nurses and volunteers at Sakura House. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a reception at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004), on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm. A private inurnment will be taking place at a later date. If desired, contributions to VON-Sakura House or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Personal condolences may be sent to

From John Hartig, a childhood friend on Courtland Ave. “My friend, Rudy” More sad news today, “in his 73rd year, Died peacefully, beloved husband”, Yes, that childhood face is still there Behind the Obit picture Behind that older face, The childhood dimples and easy smile still exist, just like yesterday Easy going Rudolf “Rudy” Nanasi Those hot summer days of kids in shorts when we were all so green and young 12 and 13 year olds on Courtland Avenue we were busy all summer long We even drew laborious plans for soapbox cars that we’d race but never seemed to get enough plywood or the baby carriage wheels we needed but plastic airplanes and boats were different because they were small we had paper route money we’d take our models to the local park and the wading pool our boats ran on small electric motors powered by AA batteries they were the fastest speed boats on the planet and we were the passengers, though they ran in circles We graduated to model airplanes made of balsa wood hours of gluing with the dizzying smell then stretching tissue over the ribbed wings and painting them with model dope, which dried slowly tight and translucent and if we were lucky, we afforded the actual engine a Thimble Drome that ran on gas, started by a 12 Volt battery The plane was tethered to strings and we flew it in circles, it was great. We thought those days would never end Then came high-school and our separate ways I worked for a newspaper, writing for peanuts, You went into manufacturing and stamping presses But those summer days still exist in my heart forever young, with boundless possibilities, before us, bright and beautiful, I’m glad you had a good life Rudy My childhood friend, Rudolf “Rudy” Nanasi Wednesday, April 17, 2019 John Hartig
